Getting there

The following info is from the 2015 reunion which was on the same day as the bike ride.

This year we have gone for the Saturday so as not to clash with both that and Fathers Day.

Mr. Shaw, denizen of Lindfield and cartographer to the stars, sends us this exclusive ‘Cut-Out-And-Keep’ limited edition ‘Map-O-Matic’ guide to visiting Lindfield on the 21st June with three levels of zoom.  Also hidden in here is a cryptic clue to the hidden treasure – the nearest answer (lat and long, three decimal points) supplied on the day wins a tricycle.Reunion Map - large scale

  1. I look forward to catching up with everyone on Sunday – although from what I’ve read, I was asleep while the rest of you were having a social life all those years ago! To be a bit dull and practical, my advice as one of the old Lindfieldians (is that a word?) is that if you’re coming from the Haywards Heath direction, head for Sunte Avenue/Hickmans Lane. Parking in the small car park at the playing field in Hickman’s Lane may be a good option….

  2. I really am being “dull old bastard” now! The map of Lindfield doesn’t show the Bent Arms in quite the right place – it’s further up the High Street, between the Hickman’s Lane and Dukes road junctions, on the Dukes Road junction side. Or at least it was when I stayed there last year on the occasion of my parents’ diamond wedding anniversary (was anyone unlucky enough to be taught history by Mrs P? She’s still terrifying….)

  3. If anyone needs a lift up from the Station give me a call on my mobile (07920 726571) and I’ll pop down. My ETA is around 14.45. I’ve only got a Noddy Car (you don’t need anything bigger driving in London) but will be able to fit three in easily.
Just a thought but, having googled the cycle race, the last tranche of riders apparently leave London about 10.00, that gives them 5 hours to reach our appointed time in Lindfield. Surely it’ll just be a few stragglers left by 15.00?

    • Hi Howard – last time I did the London-Brighton there were people coming past us in Ditchling at 3 in the afternoon on their second go, having already done London-Brighton two and a half times. Weirdos. But I expect you’re right, it’ll be stragglers, picnickers and other slow types like me at three pm.
